Jim Barrott and Fields Of Bluebells

Many will find it hard to believe that Jim Barrott has a botanical streak! But apparently so. He is organising a leisurely run in the Hebden Bridge area on Whit Friday (16th May) - the central focus being the fields of bluebells that can be witnessed in that area at this time of year.

Okay - here goes - my attempt at the "Chambers' Sales Pitch"

Has your fixed rate come to an end? mortgage payments gone through the roof? can’t afford to go on holiday this summer? Then why not consider one of the two exciting events below as an inexpensive alternative to two weeks in the sun – a two day break with your very own club mates.

Women's run, Wed 14 May & Wed 21 May

How's about looking at Saddleworth Fell Race route this Weds 14th, from Churchill changing rooms, and Snoops Loop next Weds 21st? Perhaps meet at Churchill 6.45ish to rationalise transport.

Bob Graham Leg 1 Reccie

There are few places better to be than the lakes on a sunny weekend. I just returned form Reccie-ing Leg 1 of the Bob Graham with Ray Green as navigatron. We ran the whole route on saturday in great weather - with one monsoon shower - Then retired to the pub. Shaun Thompson took on the challenge of sail beck fell race while Ray and I accompanied by Tim Whittaker went for a look at an alternative descent from Blencathra via Middle tongue and Gate Gill. This looks to have great promise as it is not as exposed as Halls fell ridge (which I never enjoy in the dark). Thanks to special guest appearances from Phil Davies and Tim LOrd who hoofed it over to join us on a great weekend.
