The Saddleworth 10 Trigs

Completion List

This route has its origin in what were two popular challenge walks: the Saddleworth 5 Trigs and the Saddleworth New 5 Trigs.  Bob Tait, then leader of the Oldham Mountain Rescue Team devised the walks in 1971 and 1979 respectively. More recently the routes have become regular training runs for members of Saddleworth Runners. In April 2019, Chris Webb decided to combine the two routes into one long circuit, bagging all 10 trigs in an inaugural time of 6-17-54. Overall, it involves traversing some 36 miles and ascending 6,500 feet, including long stretches of the boggy and tussocky terrain for which these moors are renowned.

The objective is to visit the 10 trig points listed below starting and finishing at Tanners Mill car park, Greenfield (SE 002 039 ).  Use in conjunction with OS Maps OL1 The Peak District Dark Peak area and OL21 South Pennines.
