Just when you thought it was safe.....

Don't want to dilute the great efforts of the Saddleworth Fell Race team, which I hope everyone will support, but there is another event two weeks later who's organiser is also nervously begging help!

Yes, its Wharmton Dash time. Sunday 13th June, 2010.

Could anyone able to help let me know on my email: andygart2000@yahoo.co.uk.

At present, the helpers list is a lovely crisp but blank sheet of paper. So go on, let a race organiser get some sleep by helping to cover it in inked in names!

Thanks to all who helped with the Wharmton Dash today. The willing helpers made it a pleasure to organise. Thanks to Jill and Sue for coming back from the lakes to help. Thanks to Chris and Ruby who had to head off for work in the afternoon. And everyone for giving up their Sunday mornings.

Who knows, maybe next year I won't panic at all.......oh no, its only 364 days away. Can anyone help!

Camel racing?

Well done to Andy for organising a small but perfectly formed race. Thanks from me too for the help that seems to be so readily on offer at the moment. The future of the club races looks to be in the safe hands of a new wave of club race organisors at the moment. It's a delight to see!

Special thanks to Chris Webb for providing half the field of runners in one way or another. Not only did he bring a crowd of youngsters from Blue Coat but he got his sister an dad to run too! The kids did brilliantly though they did look a bit confused at the lack of tyres to drag up Wharmton. They couldn't believe their luck.

The next event that we will be needing help for (after the Summer do of course) is the Saddleworth Junior School Athletics on July 10th. Put it on your calendars so you dont forget.

During a post race saunter round the show ground, I was eyeing up the camels which were an attraction at this year's show. I'm sure we could incorporate them in a club event somewhere. Summer do next year perhaps? Maybe we could have camels and chariots.....?
