Trigger- marsden to Edale take 2
Thanks to everyone at 'trigger' hq for staging this classic event in glorious, if freezing, weather. The race route follows the pennine way between the tow towns with some minor diversions according to taste and tactics. This years event had the novelty of an extended section on the Kinder plateau. The old Tanky's route took runnners down the road passed the snake inn.......This time we swarmed over the road and followed the flagged path toward mill hill. Due to the fine weather most competitors shunned set course for the Kinder west trig over the frozen groughs and up a heartbreaking climb. During this climb I learnt of a secret recipe to delay muscle cramps. Apparently The tomato sauce sachets you get at motorway services are just the right electrolite balance and they are free.
After the kinder trig I picked up the track for the downfall. Taking about 5mins running. Although when i reccied early last week I spent at least half an hour trudging round in circles.
The run in from the last checkpoint is still tough even though mental you feel almost in sight of the finish. The path follows the kinder river, where i came a cropper on the ice. Peforming a perfect pirouette loop the loop combination before knocking my breathe out on the ice. Result one broken wrist which I didn't feel till I had thawed out at Edale.
Congrats to all finishers and to all involved in the race. Brilliant planning and execution. Plenty of hot food and cakes at the end.
Well done .

You've got a spare wrist, Colin - stop whinging!
Colin's spot-on. The organisers did a great job - cheap entry fee (£10 including food at the end but no unnecessary 'bells and whistles'), up-to-date website and simple entry, excellent marshalls and a route that I would say is better (and slightly more challenging) than Tanky's. I felt a bit wind-swept at the end though - it was pretty fresh on Kinder!

United we stand
I am not happy with anything that causes any kind of split in the club. People who (for perfectly good reasons) are not on facebook will always feel they are missing out on something. I have now joined the Facebook page but only because I felt I could not represent the club when I was prevented from following the discussions that were taking place there.
Thank you for your comments Charlie but I don't see how your business benefitting from the link to facebook is relevant. Your business page must be a public one judging from the numbers whereas the sadd runners page is restricted even to people within our club.
I think using the facebook page for the lighter, more humorous items. This would mean the club website would become very dry and dull which is already happening to a certain extent.
If all the chat that takes place on Facebook was on the website, it would be much more interesting and representative of the membership as a whole.
It is not so long since we had a big problem with people drinking in different pubs on a
Tuesday night which eventually had a detrimental effect on tuesday night social gathering
from which it has never really recovered. Now, as then, there is nothing that can be done to force people to change so it remains to be seen how it will develop.

Well done
Well done to everyone who took part! It's always a tough one even on a good day.
Congratulation to Janice's son Chris who did an excellent time. I think we need to sign him up.
