Road Bike ?

I'm taking someone's place in the Buxton Triathlon in September and was wondering if anyone has a servicable road bike that I could perhaps borrow to have a go on. I've not much experience of riding a road bike and would like a few weeks to get used to the riding position etc. Otherwise I'll be pootling along on my trail/hybrid on the day - I have had an offer of using one on the day but I'm not sure if it's a good idea yet. I can't do Thursdays unfortunately, Tony's offered to let me have a go on his chopper - so I'll probably take him up on that offer first. Who could resist?
