Pule Hill Petrifier

Thanks to Charlie for organising last nights night run.

There was a big turn out of 26 runners for the 'Pule Hill Petrifier' which started at the Diggle Hotel and took an interesting route up to Standege Cutting, which was cloaked in thick mist, before crossing onto the southern end of Millstone Edge and down to the Great Western prior to climbing up onto a very wind blown Pule Hill.

From Pule Hill the route descended and eventually, after some strayed a little from the route in heavy mist, picked up the Turn-Pike Road back to Standedge Cutting before descending Boat Lane back to the start point.

Some excellent Meat & Potatoe and Cheese & Onion pies were laid on for everyone at the Diggle Hotel.

Cheers Charlie.

I'd also like to say a big thank you to Charlie for organising Tuesday's night run. It was quite petrifying, mostly due to the weather. Enjoyed the run very much and was sorry to miss the lovely grub after. Cheers Charlie.

Just a few comments from facebook.

Comments on the Pule Hill Petrifier, where can the route be improved! ?
More barbed wire maybe, few more ravines, river crossings, navigation clangers.
Let me know and we can make it even more petrifying for next year!

Howard Chambers What some dissensions amongst our jolly band...my advice is unless its coming from someone prepared to organise something themselves...ignore it. if it wasn't for people like yourself organising events, food etc we'ed soon be a lot poorer for it.

Daniel Brison It was a great run and evening Charlie, thoroughly enjoyable, thanks. The highlight for me was leaning into the howling gale on top of Pule Hill! My only concern was that the route did not encompass the Hanging Gate for some reason?

Mark Bowden The only way it could've been improved is by arranging for some deeper mud, more fences, perhaps a river crossing, banning torches, getting lost and a few more people stopping for food and a pint. Thanks a lot Charlie

Cris Miles On the run down boat lane - stop to count. 1,2 .... 24. Me to CM, I've got 24 counted, "Oh I had 26 at the top" Lee Bowden chips in "I've got 25"....... classic SRC - wouldn't change a thing!

Lee Bowden I got 25 and presumed James was on his way back to pick his boys up. Has anyone heard from him yet?

It's great to see so many people thanking Charlie for his efforts on organising the night run. Without people like Charlie and others, who organise such events, the clubs runs and activities would be less interesting and we would be in danger of becoming a road or altletics club! Ooops did I say that!

However, am I mistaken that the forum on the WEBSITE is supposed to be the clubs official point of communication? Where it not for Charlie posting all of the above comments myself and others, who do not use face book, would be totally unaware of the communication that as taken place.

I wonder how much other info is bounding around face book, regarding club matters, that is being missed on the website by those who dont use it?

Come on, if it's club stuff post it on the website, otherwise we may as well drop it and not bother investing time etc in trying to improve it.
