Mini 'O' Event 30th June
We are staging our popular Mini Orienteering Event from Binn Green Car park at 7.30pm. This is a 90 minute event to try and get to as many local landmarks as possible in the allotted time. Each location has a points value dependant on how far away it is, with minus points for those who over-run. Ideal for those who need a little navigation practice and can be done in pairs or on your own. There will be a voluntary £2 entry fee in aid of our Chosen Charity.

next years event
we will use high tech equiptment i.e. different coloured pegs that is of course if you can decipher my more likely than not enigma code like grid refs. :-)
Compass found
A compass was left at the Cross Keys, it has an orange bezel.
I guess the owner didn't do too well and may not want it back but I'll have it with me next Tuesday anyway.
Mini O Results
A great turnout for this annual search around the moors for local landmarks. 22 members went out, though we were a few missing by the end, fortunately the Mountain Rescue were stood down just in time....(Have Nick and Chris heard of the wooden spoon ;-)
Run of the night has to go to Nicole Van Der Torr and Suzanne, who amassed an amazing 230 points and would have tied for the lead had they not have been 3 mins over...sorry rules are rules!
We also managed to raise £30 on the night for our Prostate Cancer Charity, to which I am most grateful. http://www.justgiving.com/srcprostatecancer/
Results as they stand with a few results still to come in are as follows:
New Tom and Howard 230pts
Turbo and Martyn 220pts
Nicky T and Suzzane 215pts (230-15pen)
Tony W and Rick 215pts (220-5pen)
Mark and Claire 180pts
Ruby and Kev 120pts (130-10pen)
Roy and Tony G? 120pts
Missing results to be added from Adam, Chris, Nicky S, Nick & Chris, Colin
Chris & Nicks Score
While I await activation of my forum account I thought I'd pass on mine and Nick's mini o result from Tuesday.
Firstly the impressive bit - we got 260 points for achieving the landmarks, including blindstone quarry and featherbed trig.
Less impressively, we arrived back at Binn Green exactly one hour late, which by my reckoning gives us an overall score of Minus 40.
I blame Nick for trying to navigate us down a sheer rock face.
Onwards and upwards!
Chris
missing in action
Due to a slight oversight I managed to turn up to the mini 'o' event without a watch.
Although this is without any verification other than a bloke in Binn green carpark
my results are as follows:
330 points scored with a deduction of 75points for 15mins late.
Doh!
Tried to get to featherbed moss but lacked competence.
Just a thought tho' Could we try the event without watches. It really makes you concentrate on pace judgement etc......just an idea.
Colin spotted
I can confirm that Colin was spotted at Birchen Clough at 20:16 hrs, where he went from there and at what time is anyone's guess.
Thanks for a great night though - I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.
And don't tell anyone we were 3 minutes over!
Recount
I think some recounting is in order here. Maybe 11 points off Howards teanm will do the trick.
Complaints R'nt Us
Tom, you know what happens to those who complain about other peoples organising, you get to organise it yourself next year....GOOD LUCK
err recount not needed
im ok thanks i agree that the counting ability of the counter is correct although i may have a crack at choosing the checkpoints, perhaps bottom of yeoman hey res. 50 points
The organiser always wins
Go for it Tom! The organiser always wins this one.
Respelling
Tom, never mind the recount, please check your spelling.
Howard, could you please remind Tom of the rule that each whinge leads to a deduction of 5 points.
